FAQ

What is a coach?

A coach is a trained professional who has the skills to help individuals, executives and organizations create positive changes, see new possibilities, and help their clients define the steps to be taken to achieve both their short and long-term goals (CCF Training Manual 2015).

What is coaching?

Coaching is a relationship where the Coach and Client co-create a plan to get the Client from where they are to where they want to be. It is not advice, therapy or counselling. It is based on the idea that the Client has the answers and it’s the Coaches job to bring them out, as well as, provide accountability which is the foundation that creates results.

What is wellness coaching?

Wellness coaching is the application of the principles and processes of professional life coaching to the goals of lifestyle improvement for higher levels of wellness (Michael Arloski).

What is the difference between coaching and therapy or counselling?

The major difference is that coaching is primarily future based and therapy and counselling explore the past to understand present behaviours.

Is coaching appropriate for me?

Coaching is for those who want to make positive changes and are ready to commit to making them happen.

Do I need a coach?

Nobody needs a coach but a coach can help if you have struggled in the past, want to accomplish your goal(s) faster or would like more support.

What can a coach help me with?

A coach can help you with almost any goal you have, such as: weight loss, work-life balance, time management, relationship issues, personal development, career growth, etc.

My focus is primarily on helping people incorporate sustainable healthy habits into their lives to improve their overall health and wellbeing (i.e. fitness, nutrition, sleep and stress management) and personal development based on my studies in cegep and university, as well as my experience working in ER. However, my coach certification (with the Certified Coaches Federation/CanFitPro) trained me as a general coach practitioner.

What happens during life coaching sessions?

The coach will use various assessments and interviewing techniques to draw out your goals, habits, motivation and potential roadblocks to help you create an action plan to accomplish your goal(s).

How does coaching work?

First, we’ll set up a Strategy Session, which is a 60 minute consultation to assess goals, co-create an action plan with next steps and decide whether to continue the coaching relationship. If it’s a HELL Yeah (see blog) on both ends, then we’ll proceed to one of the available coaching packages based on the commitment (time, energy, budget) that suits you.

How many sessions will I need?

It really depends on the goal and how much time and energy you can commit to working on it. We have various packages available. Meetings generally take place weekly or biweekly and are in increments of 30 or 60 minutes. A three-month commitment is recommended as coaching is a process and it takes time to create results.

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions can be done on zoom or face-to-face. In-person sessions can be either in a casual setting, such as a park or coffee shop or at a private office in downtown Montreal. The private office is subject to availability and will incur an extra fee.

How much does coaching cost?

Prices are the same as for any professional service. It is an investment in yourself. They start as low as $55/session.

Nowadays, many people have coaches. It’s become a pretty mainstream thing. Athletes have coaches to reach their highest potential, why can’t everyone else do the same to reach theirs?

No. Meal plans are often difficult for people to adhere to, for one, because no one likes being told what to do. We work together to improve healthy eating habits based on your goals but do not provide specific meal plans.
